As an Amazon seller, you know that having a great product is only half the battle. The other half is getting potential customers to find and purchase your product. And one of the key ways to do that is by optimizing your product listing.

Standing out from the crowd by Amazon listing optimization can be tough, especially with millions of products available on Amazon, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.  So, how do you create and leverage a listing to help your product get noticed and boost your sales? Here’s how we have strategized and simplified the most important things to take into consideration in optimizing your product listing: Start with an appealing and informative title when listing on Amazon

Your title is one of the first things potential customers will see, so it's important to make it count. Use keywords that accurately describe your product and are most likely to be used by people searching for your type of product.

Just always remember not to stuff your title with too many keywords - this will just make it difficult to read and could get you penalized by Amazon. So when you create a listing on Amazon, keep in mind that you're writing both for the algorithm and the shoppers.

1. Write a detailed and keyword-rich description

Once potential customers have clicked on your listing, they'll want to know more about your product. This is where your product description comes in on your screen. So, again, use keywords throughout your description to help people find your Amazon listing.

But unlike your title, you can (and should) go into more details here. Describe your product's features and benefits, and highlight the features why it is the best possible option on Amazon. This is where you should take a huge chunk of your efforts since this section will highlight what your product is about. This section aims to make the customer want to buy your product.

shoot high quality images

2. Use high-quality images for your Amazon listing

Study says, people are more likely to rely on visual cues for basic adaptive behaviors such as selecting and buying needs, so using great photos is essential for a standout listing. Use professional-looking photos that show your product in use, if possible. Make sure each image is clear and properly cropped - you don't want potential customers to be distracted by a fuzzy photo or one that cuts off part of the product.

How to shoot great product images:

  • Use a plain background. A white or neutral background will help make your product the focus subject.
  • Get a close-up. Showing close-up shots of your product will give potential customers a better idea of its looks and how it works.
  • Use multiple angles. People want to see your product from all sides, so include photos that show it from different angles.
  • Include a lifestyle shot. In addition to photos of your product, consider adding a "lifestyle" photo that shows it being used in everyday life. This can help potential customers imagine using your product themselves and see how it would fit into their lives.

3. Choose the right category and keywords

If you want your listings to be more searchable, you would first need to choose the right category for it and the keywords you want to use. First, you have to put yourself in your customer's shoes - choose the keywords you think they'd use to search for your products. Then, select the category that best describes your product and use those keywords throughout your Amazon listing.

When you list your product on Amazon, you'll need to choose a category and sub-category. Make sure you select the most relevant option to help potential customers find your Amazon listing. You'll also be asked to provide a list of keywords that describe your product. Again, accuracy is key here - choose words and phrases that people are likely to search for in their buying journey.

4. Offer competitive pricing

Price is always a factor when people are shopping online, so it's important to set a competitive price for your product. Take a look at how much your competitors are selling the products and adjust your prices accordingly.

When pricing your products, make sure that you factor in your profits and what it's selling for at the market currently. The last thing you'd want to happen is to sell your products at a very low or high price with less to no revenue. So you must check how your competitors are doing now and then.

5. Offer free shipping and other discounts

People love free shipping, so definitely do if you can offer it. Free shipping can be a major selling point that can be great leverage for you to include in your Amazon listing title and description. It's also an alternative way to compete with other businesses that sell the same products as yours. If you can't lower your price to stay competitive, you can offer these perks to entice shoppers to choose your products instead of others.

provide great customer service

6. Provide helpful customer service

Remember that great customer service can go a long way in creating a standout Amazon listing. Respond quickly to any questions or concerns potential customers have about your product. And if there are any problems with an order, do whatever you can to make it right.

7. Use customer reviews to show credibility

If you have any customer reviews, be sure to showcase them prominently on your Amazon listing. Positive reviews can be an avenue for your legitimacy in the e-Commerce world. Potential customers are more likely to purchase a product that has good reviews that could assure them of proven quality.

8. Monitor your competition and make changes as needed

Of course, even the best Amazon listing won't do you any good if no one can find it. That's why it's important to monitor your competition and understand how they strategize their listings to know where to target your other potential customers.  You may also take advantage of amazon's search engine optimization (SEO) tools to help you track your ranking for relevant keywords and make changes to your listing as needed.

9. Use Sponsored Products to promote your listing

Another great way to get your listing in front of potential customers is to use Amazon's Sponsored Products program. This paid advertising service lets you place your product listing on the first page of search results, giving you a major advantage over your competition. Though there might be some costs to pay, this method will give you a higher assurance that your listing will be shown on your customers’ screens.

10. Keep your listing up-to-date

Finally, it's important to keep your listing up-to-date with any changes or new information. If you make any changes to your product, update your Amazon listing accordingly. And if you receive any new customer reviews, be sure to add them to your listing. Keeping your listing accurate and up-to-date will ensure that potential customers always have the most accurate information about your product.
